Our first flying sculpture project will happen July 14-19, 2003 at

New Horizons Yacht Harbor
7399 Route 14
Sodus Point, NY

The marina is on route 14, just a few miles north of route 104. Sodus Point is a small town. Once you get into the town, you won't be able to miss us. In fact, coming from 104, you can't worry about driving too far. Soon after you pass the marina you'll be driving into Lake Ontario. So if you get wet, turn around and come back.

We have received many queries regarding future flights. At the current time, we are most concerned with executing this one well. If you're interested in knowing how we ended up picking Sodus Point, or want to suggest other locations for the future, read on.

Following are our needs for a venue:

  • It should be a highly visible and well publicized location or event.
  • It can't be too close to a major airport since it will be necessary to keep the sculpture out of commercial flight paths.
  • We need to have open space for a safe launch and landing.
  • We need an indoor space to construct the sculpture over a period of about 5 days. The structure we build in also needs a door large enough to take the sculpture outside. An ideal space would be an airplane hangar. (A large enough tent may be sufficient.) Floor space should be on the order of 100 feet x 100 feet.
