All Octopus Photos | The Build | The Parade | The Flight | The Recovery

The launch was originally scheduled for 7:00pm. Actual lift off was 7:45, making octopus flight not only the safest form of flight (there are no known casualties from flying octopi) but also one of the most timely. The delay was a result of too much weight in the sculpture. Rapid adjustments were made to get it off the ground. The flight lasted only about 15 minutes due to less than ideal wind conditions, but it was a beautiful thing to see in the sky.
