Since this site was created some things have changed in the plans. We haven't had time to update the whole site yet to reflect the current designs. Due to the location we have been offered, the plans have changed from a dragon to an octopus in a sea of fish. We've also decided to have John ride on top of the octopus, rather than hang below it. The expected launch date is 19 July, 2003 in Sodus Point, NY. Construction should take about a week. Both the construction and the launch will be open to the public. We are still looking for sponsors.

The balloons have arrived! We're in the final stages of getting things together behind the scenes. We've heard a lot of positive things from people in the community and the local press. The town has made arrangements for the main road to be closed so we can transport the sculpture from the hangar we're building it in to the launch field. Everyone is starting to catch on with just how large this thing is going to be.

The launch on Saturday, July 19 was successful. It was a short flight due to the unfortunate direction of the wind, but everything happened safely. Photos will be on line shortly. We're still wrapping up last minute stuff.
