To: balloon@fooledya.com Subject: My own Elmo From: brit_anders@juno.com (Brit W Anders) Date: Tue, 24 Dec 1996 11:21:05 EST Well folks, The response to my plea for the Elmo directions were slow in coming (though I thank those of you who did respond). I invented my own last night while sitting at a Perkins surrounded by 25 high school and collage age girls. I sold my prototype for $10.00 to the manager. I used 2 hearts (1 red and one clear), a scrap of black, an orange 350, and two red 260s. (AND it's an application of my{?} raisin twist). I made 2 black seeds and inserted them into the clear heart, blew up the clear till it had a rounded shape. These became the eyes... I put a raisin into the red heart and inflated until it was head-shaped... (Remember, I had a bunch of helpers to hold balloon pieces.) I made a 3 inch bubble in the 350 and tore it off (thanks John, I use you method about 75% of the time now) and tied it onto the raisin in the red heart. Then I took the "eyes" and twisted them to look like eyes and took the result and twisted them onto the raisin, and wa-la...Elmos head. I took the nozzle of Elmo's head and tulip twisted it onto a red 260 and preceded to make the body. - A bird body with legs - and then I made arms out of the other red 260 and attached them at the junction of the neck and body. ELMO! Ever have one of those times when your own creation impresses the stuffing out of you? This is one slick Elmo! Merry Christmas, family!
